Elgin Community Drug and Alcohol Strategy

The Elgin Community Drug and Alcohol Strategy Steering Committee was established in 2018. A drug and alcohol strategy is a shared community effort that works to reduce the harms associated with substance use.

In 2021, community consultations were conducted to inform the development of 49 recommendations under the pillars of prevention, treatment, harm reduction, and justice. This strategy includes recommendations that build on local strengths and address the needs of the communities of Elgin County and St. Thomas.

The goal of the ECDAS is:

“A safe and healthy community in Elgin without the negative impacts of drugs and alcohol.”
